When you're this far south, you need food that's worth the drive — and we deliver.

Boca Chica has changed. What was once a quiet stretch of beach at the southern tip of Texas is now a global destination for rocket launches, SpaceX engineering, and coastal tourism that extends well beyond traditional beach season. With that change came an unexpected problem: where do you eat when you're 25 miles from downtown Brownsville and the only nearby options are gas station snacks or hour-long drives? Emilia's South Padre Island Highway location is the closest authentic Mexican restaurant to the Boca Chica launch site, SpaceX facility, and the beach itself — close enough that SpaceX workers make it part of their weekly rotation and beachgoers factor it into their return trip plans. We stay open until 8 PM (7 PM on Sundays) because launch schedules don't follow normal dinner hours. The menu is the same as every other Emilia's — handmade tortillas, slow-cooked meats, fresh salsas — but the clientele is different: engineers grabbing tacos between shifts, families refueling after a day on the sand, and space enthusiasts who drove from Houston to watch a launch and need real food before the drive home. We don't have a rocket on our menu, but our barbacoa is pretty close to a religious experience.
